Rob Guthrie has spent his life showing up — as an Eagle Scout, a law enforcement officer, a business leader who managed a $150 million budget, a coach, and a neighbor. Now he is asking to serve the island his family calls home.

Community
Residents come first. Every decision should weigh its impact on residents’ quality of life — not what serves special interests.
Common Sense
Gather the facts, ask questions, involve residents, and make informed decisions in the best interest of the island.
A Brighter Tomorrow
Protect the character and beauty of the island while preserving and enhancing our natural resources through sustainable growth.

Service didn’t start with a campaign. It started at fifteen.
Rob earned the rank of Eagle Scout, collecting more than two tons of food and clothing for Native American families living in isolated parts of the country. The values behind that project — serve others, accept responsibility, keep your word, leave things better than you found them — have guided him ever since.
After college he served three years in Southern California law enforcement, then built a career in entertainment and hospitality, advancing to a director role overseeing more than 800 employees and an annual budget of over $150 million. At 50 he went back to school, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Thomas More University, and earned his MBA in 2015. Today he and his wife Pam are small-business owners on Hilton Head, where three of their children and several grandchildren also live.

Freeze Local Property Taxes for Residents 65 and Older
Many of the people who built this island now live on fixed incomes. Rob will work to freeze local property taxes for residents 65 and older so they can afford to stay in the homes and community they love.
Enhance Law Enforcement Visibility
Rob spent three years in law enforcement and knows a visible presence prevents problems before they start. He will work with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to put more patrols where residents and visitors can see them.
Preserve Our Natural Environment with Sustainable Growth
The tree canopy, marshes and beaches are why we’re all here. Growth is coming either way — Rob will push for growth that respects the island’s natural character instead of paving over it.
Improve Traffic Flow in the Sea Pines Circle
Anyone who drives the south end knows the backups at the Sea Pines Circle. Rob will press for practical, well-studied fixes that move traffic safely without changing the feel of the island.
Listen. Understand. Work together. Solve problems.
Rob isn’t promising that every challenge can be solved overnight. He is promising to show up, do the work, and leave Hilton Head Island better than he found it.
